WE WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO OUR WEEK OF Festivities
On November 8th Yellowknife Glass Recyclers Co-operative will be Old Town Glassworks, a name we feel better represents our small business here in Old Town. We will celebrate with various festivities during this week and would like to invite you to be part of our celebration.
STENCIL DESIGN COMPETITION, entries due Nov 8th
Until November 8th we are accepting entries for our STENCIL DESIGN COMPETITION. All entries will be displayed in our showroom during the festivities and the winning design will become part of our Northern Pattern Selection.
All participants will receive a royalty on each glass that is sold with their design during our re-branding celebration and open house at The Dancing Moose Cafe, Saturday November 12th between 12-6pm. The winner will receive a royalty on every glass sold in our store this Christmas season (ending Dec 31st) and a set of 4 glasses etched with their design (see our website for more details www.ygr.coop).

All of our unique handmade northern glassware including our popular glasses, bowls, vases, jewellery and candles will be discounted. It is very rare that we advertise a storewide sale, so this is a great opportunity for our customers to save on our beautiful recycled glass art.
FREE GLASS WORKSHOPS, with the purchase of a glass
Workshops booked for our week of festivities (Nov 8th-12th) are FREE with the purchase of one of our glasses. During your 1-2 hour workshop you will be guided through our art studio with a demonstration of the polishing and grinding process. You will then have the opportunity to choose, design and sandblast a northern design onto your glass (also available to make during your workshops are mirror ornaments, and jewelery).
STORE CREDIT, bring in your broken mirror and blue glass bottles
We will offer our customers $1 store credit for every donated mirror or blue glass bottle. This is a great way to get rid of your waste and we can turn it into some beautiful handmade art.
OPEN HOUSE PARTY AND CELEBRATION, Saturday Nov 12th
On Saturday between 12-6pm we will be hosting a celebration party at The Dancing Moose Cafe (3505 McDonald Drive), across the street from YGR. Come see our new renovations and warm up with live music, hot white fish chowder and Northern teas. Our music line-up includes Tina Roy, Natasha Duchene, Oscar Perez, Jessica Heinz, Mel Leonard and Miranda Currie. The stencil design competition results will be displayed and glass orders will be available for purchase, for this one day only. Our shop will be open all day for tours and workshops.

The Canadian Worker Co-op Federation (CWCF) is hosting a conference next weekend (Oct.28-30) in Vancouver, and YGR Co-op is hosting a live streaming of the conference on a large screen above TJs Nut Hut in Old Town, on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday Oct.28-30, at various times.
This will be a great opportunity to gather a group of people together that are interested in building a strong worker co-operative environment.
